Tim Brown

Wilburton Theatre Group deeply regret to announce the recent death of our former Chairman Tim Brown.

Tim Brown joined WTG in September 2001 and his first on-stage performance was as Baron Stoneybroke in that December’s panto “Cinderella”. He took on the role of WTG’s Musical Director for the first time in the 2002 panto and continued in that role in subsequent years, including the recent 2021 panto where he also appeared on stage.

Tim also appeared on stage in numerous productions over the following years, including the musicals “Little Shop of Horrors” where he played a lead role as Mr. Mushnik, “Seussical the Musical”, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” and “The Addams Family”. In 2008 he directed WTG’s summer one-act play “Easy Stages” which was also taken to the Hunstanton Drama Festival where it was nominated for the award of “Best Adult Production”.

Tim wrote, directed, and played the role of “Dingo” in WTG’s 2003 adult production of “Changing All Our Tunes” which was a look at pop music trends throughout the decades. This play was also performed as a youth production in 2006, directed by Paula Hennessy.

Already a committee member at the time, Tim became Chairman of WTG in September 2005 and remained in that post thereafter.

Tim also took a very active part in the various cabaret shows and gigs that have been presented by WTG over the years. Outside WTG, Tim was a musical performer and singer and a member of Fen Boy Three, Men Behaving Sadly and Timeline, performing with the latter at a WTG fundraising event in February 2020 which was just before the start of the pandemic.

Tim was an ambassador for WTG with his long-term commitment. He will be a huge loss to the group and not least his support of younger members and encouragement to sing.  He always provided a positive attitude and helped the youth and many adults gain confidence in singing and performing in general.
